Conceptual art – loosing time

For my final piece for the conceptual brief I didn’t really focus on the aesthetics until the very end.I knew I wanted to do something with clocks however was really sure what it would look like. I thought about the concept of my work for a really long time with this brief and wanted the message and meaning to be powerful and meaningul . I wanted to show the concept that we as humans focus on the time too much, we watch the clock continuously letting the time have full control of us. I wanted to show that we need to enjoy every moment and make most of the time we have because no one k noes how long we have. People believe that things can last forever but what is forever? Does forever evist?

The definition of forever is a “limitless time for all futurs, for always”.

And, the deficit time is “the continued progress of existenc e regarding the past, present and future”

Looking at the definition of the two words I wanted to highlight that time and forever work hand in hand or could be the same thing as forever wouldn’t exists if time didn’t and vice versa.

At the beginning of the brief I wasn’t sure if my idea for time had any release to memory as the conceptual art  died was a continuafion of the theme of memory. However after my tutorial and getting some feedback I from my lecturer I realised memory are just ways your brain remembers certain events and times in your life.memories are al.ist clocks in its self which is something I didn’t even think about until now.

To conclude the conceptual art brief I have really enjoyed mysslf, I would say this has been my favourite brief I have been given in the course so far. At the  beginning conceptual art terrified me, I thought I wasn’t smart or clever enough to create a piece of art with such meaning behind it that people would be like wow. But actually I could do it and lived the process of thing about the meaning of the piece way before thinking about how I want it to look. That process is actually what I normally do when planning my work however I didn’t know that was conceptual.

“Time is just as important as the seasons”

I had to try and figure out how I was going to get a white back ground for my picture and make sure every image was the same with only the time changing . I had to use what I had and think it worked quite well.
