Sir Antony gormley was born on the 30th of August 1950. He is well known for his large figurative sculptures can his work cane be reconciled world wide. Are few of his most well known pieces are;

Most of formless sculptures are figure related often using his own body as the base for the cast. Gormley tests the human body as a place to go to or visitor rather just as an objects. It’s something to interact with and look at. The body isn’t really symbolic of anything apart from a single moment in time. His sculptures represents the body in a frozen moment in time.

Even though my work isn’t figure related, I like the like the use of shape and negative space in gormleys work. I like how he uses shape to create the impression of a body however keeping it quite minimal. I like how the use of negative shapes creates the effect of fading away with link closely to my sculpture.
