Day two of our sculpture workshop and we were using plaster. I had never used plaster and was really looking forward to learning the process.
We had a lot of freedom with the plaster and were really allowed to make anything and any shape we wanted which was really fun as it let us play around with the media and get comfortable with it.
We started by making moulds out of clay using a mixture of tools, the mould had to have walls and we had to make sure there was no holes so when the mixture is poured in. When we were happy with our moulds we had to mix the plaster powder and water together in a bowl, you will know how much plaster when you dip your clean finger in and it comes out white.when it’s ready pour the plaster in the mould and wait until it’s dry.
When the plaster is set you can peel away the plaster and get it a good scrub with water. I think this process is really interesting and something I would definitely like to do agin in the future.
