Edinburgh sculpture workshop – clay

On my first day of the sculpture workshop in Leith we were working with clay.

Using our knuckles

Our first challenge was we were only allowed to use out nickels to shape and mould the clay, we had to use both hands at the same time and try and shape every side of the block of clay.

For our second challenge we were only allowed to used two planks of wood to shaped the clay.
After each challenge we had to drawing our sculpture, we have to try and capture the feeling of our sculpture and the shape rather than just drawing it completely.
