2D practice evaluation

I have really enjoyed the 2D practice brief have enjoyed working with new techniques and materials trying to create something bold and interesting. I found the three workshops helpful and quite fun. I really enjoyed the printing workshop and think screen printing would be something I love like to do again in the future. I think my development with my prints was quick successful as I played around with layers and using different colours to achieve a different effect which I think works well. If I could develop my prints further, I would maybe try introducing text in my work and see how far I could take it. I did enjoy the wet media workshop however felt the most out of my comfort zone as I never really use ink or bleach in my work. I experimented with the wet media seeing what different effects I could achieve on the stretched paper. Out of the three workshops I think the wet media one was the least developed. I got stuck on preparing paper and experimenting with the bleach I didn’t really link it to my theme or produce a final piece. If I could develop it more i would make sure I gave myself a certain time frame for working on experiment/playing around and then time to work on my outcome. The collage workshop was my favourite, I really enjoyed the process of looking through magazines and newspapers looking for backgrounds and text. I spend most of my time working in my sketchbook for this workshop and produced a lot of A4 collages. I started of my focusing on contrast trying to use backgrounds with bold contrast shapes and colours in my work to try and link to my theme which I really like. Through development I started focusing on text as I wanted there to be a purpose on the text not just to create a texture within the piece. To conclude the brief, I chose to do collage for my three final pieces. I think my development throughout the brief working towards my final piece is quite successful as you can see a clean link from where I started to where I finished which I think is good. I think I gave myself plenty on time to really focus on my final pieces and think what I wanted to show through my work.
