2D practices – resolved work

to conclude the 2D practice brief I chose to work in college. I wanted to work with different text styles and imagery from magazines, newspapers and print outs. I chose to do three square final pieces to finish the brief, I think using the small scale and in a square shape help you focus on all the details in the collages. I wanted my collages to be small and busy as I wanted to show how the media is full of politics and it is all most shoved in your face, consuming people’s heads.

The message I wanted to show through my collage was that the news and media are consumed with politics and Brexit that we don’t hear about the other important things going on around the country/world and are almost distracted by the head lines. I wanted to try and show this theme by using images of important new like the homeless rated increasing, wildfires and animal poaching. I covered the images with headlines and captions from use papers about politics to show how Politics is used to cover up other importance’s.

My favourite out of the three collages is the first one the the images of homeless people. I wanted to highlight how ridiculous the big news head lines are like how people are worried as they won’t get pigs in blankets from Christmas or their sticky toffee pudding won’t be sticky enough. I wanted to show the shocking truth that even though there are more and more people out on the street for Christmas the news papers main headline was that the discussion over the turkey is Brexit.
