Moving forward in development I really wanted to continue working with collage working on black paper. I really wanted to focus on text using cut-outs from magazines and news papers to create small powerful collages. I chose to work on a small scale of 14cm by 14cm as I wanted my work to be quite small and simplistic contracting the big dramatic themes and issues within the collages.

Before starting the collages, I spent time looking through magazines trying to find backgrounds or visually pleasing textures and colour to have as background pieces within my collages. I also spend some time looking through text, trying to find those dramatic headings and hidden phrases within articles which caught my eye.

Once I had all my collage pieces, I cut all my black paper and hung them on the wall so I had a clear view on what I was working with. I then went through the background pieces seeing ich ones complemented each other and tried laying them out on the black paper. With out the text the different cut-outs look quite happy and bright a the have bright colours and interesting designs. If the text wasn’t there the images would be quite happy and positive which I think is a great contrasting background to the text Like Krugger I want the images to be completely different to the text so when combined have a different meaning.

I tried using images of politicians cut outs from the newspaper to go along side the text. I think this actually worked really well as you can see the clear themes and adds faces with in my work.

I am really happy with the collage I have produced through the development trying to come to a conclusion of the 2d brief. I really like the way my work is headed and am pleased with how my work has changed and how I have pushed myself forward to produce pieces I am actually quite proud of. I think if I had more time I would experiment using different sizes of paper and work on a smaller scale and try maybe doing some of the collage digitally and use invers or play around with colour.
