2D practices- painting

Our first workshop for our new 2D practice brief was painting. We were exploring the use of wet paint, ink and bleach. Prior to starting this brief, I started by stretching paper in multiple different shapes and sizes so when I apply the wet pint the paper wouldn’t bubble. I used a white primer on some of the stretched paper piece to create a base for the picture. I really wanted to capture a strong feeling of contrast within my work through bold geometric shapes and line. I also shown contrast through the use of bold colours like black, white and red.

I really enjoyed working with wet medias and think it is something might continue going further within the 2D practice brief. Looking back on my work if I could change one thing I would have worked on different coloured paper as I think the white background gets a bit boring and I kind of got stuck on it. I could explore using black paper and see if I could create more of a clash in my work.
